First Date Attire for Men

I wanted to share the results of a survey regarding first date attire for men; specifically the pants men choose to wear.

The clothing company Barley & Britches conducted a survey of over 1,300 women to determine how women judge a man’s pants when meeting at a restaurant.

Below are the results of the survey.

First Date Attire Findings for Pants

If you want women to think you’re rich, responsible and a perfect long-term partner, wear khaki colored pants. Khaki shows you are a good catch.

If you want to seem like a wild, adventurous, offbeat, or creative date, wear colorful pants like dark red or bright blue. Be careful, you also run the risk of being seen like a hookup when you wear colorful pants.

Women may think you like the finer things in life if you wear dark but still colorful pants; purple or example.

Wearing green pants will communicate to women that you’re a world traveler but also that you may live with your parents.

Final Thoughts

The survey was done by a clothing company that sells chinos so I don’t know how “scientific” it is. You can decide that for yourself.

To me, khakis are office attire. Khakis are casual clothing. I don’t know if khaki’s scream “sexy” to women.

If you have the confidence to pull off colorful pants such as red or blue, by all means go for it. Be aware the message they convey to women though per the study.

I think a nice pair of jeans are perfectly acceptable first date attire.
