Holding A Guitar Makes You HOTTER With Women

Need a good tip to grab a woman’s attention on your dating profile? Add a picture of yourself playing or holding a guitar.

Say what? Yes, science has proven women LOVE men who play guitars.

Two studies, in particular, have broken down the impact a guitar has with women.

Guitar Case Study

The study, Men’s music ability and attractiveness to women in a real-life courtship context, found that women prefer men with guitars.

The study, conducted in France, used an attractive man to approach 300 women who were walking alone along a pathway.

As each woman approached the man, he would ask her for her phone number saying that he would call her later so that they could get a drink later.

The man would make the same request each time with the only difference being that 1/3 of the time he had a “large black sports bag”, 1/3 of the time he wasn’t holding anything and 1/3 of the time he held a black acoustic guitar case.

The women would give the man her phone number 31% of the time when he was holding a guitar case as opposed to 9% of the time when he held the black sports bag and 15% of the time when he held nothing.

Facebook Guitar Study

The second study, Guitar Increases Male Facebook Attractiveness: Preliminary Support for the Sexual Selection Theory of Music, tested the attractiveness of men holding a guitar on Facebook.

A Facebook profile of a man holding a guitar would receive more positive responses from young single women compared to a Facebook profile of the same man without a guitar.

100 single women participated in the study.

In the study, a friendship request was sent to 50 women where the man’s profile had a guitar while another friendship request was sent to 50 women where the man’s profile didn’t have a guitar.

Each friendship request had the same text; “Hey, what’s up? I like your photo.”

The results were that 10% of the women responded to the friendship request without the guitar while 28% responded to the friendship request where the man was holding the guitar.

Final Thoughts

Why does guitar increase a man’s appeal and make women give their numbers?

Does it matter? Seriously, learn guitar.

Ok, kidding aside, there are several possible reasons.

Have the ability to play a guitar signals intelligence and creativity.

Others think being able to play guitar shows that someone who can play guitar has a genetic advantage, such as “fine motor skills” or a “high capacity to learn” or the “necessary resources needed to master an instrument.”
